Engadin residents offset their guests’ carbon footprints
Hospitality for sustainability – the holiday destinations of Engadin, Scuol and Zernez are offering a groundbreaking new service: locals offset holidaymakers’ carbon emissions. When a guest uses their hotel sauna, for instance, the Famos family turns their heating down.
The Lower Engadine has long been committed to sustainability and is at the forefront with the climate protection initiative "Cause We Care", innovative construction projects and energy from renewable sources. But more climate protection is always possible, said the people of Lower Engadine and founded the "Klimatruppa Engadin": committed citizens who increase the well-being of their guests even more by personally offsetting their vacations.
The "Klimatruppa Engadin" consists of a group of locals who volunteer and want to do something concrete. With a good portion of tongue in cheek, they draw attention to the fact that climate protection and hospitality are close to their hearts.
