At WIRZ we use design thinking specifically to analyse the problems and wishes of our clients even more precisely and finally to implement them in a powerful, surprising strategy. Preferably in an open, direct collaboration with our clients.

That’s Design Thinking
Design thinking is more than just a method for us - it is the key to extraordinary ideas and customer-oriented solutions. Our interdisciplinary team of experts covers the entire range of specialists needed to develop an even deeper understanding of your needs and those of your clients.

In our day-to-day work, we also use a wide range of creativity techniques and research methods from design thinking and apply these tools specifically in projects. Design thinking as a method is particularly suitable for co-creation between WIRZ and experts on the client side in order to develop integrated solutions together. It also enables direct, inspiring cooperation with the target groups (see Deutsche Telekom case study).

This is how we apply the Design Thinking approach at WIRZ:

Step 1 - Develop & understand empathy: This step is about gaining a deep understanding of the needs, wants and challenges of your company's target audience by actively listening, observing and putting yourself in their shoes.

Step 2 - Observe & define the problem: Based on this understanding, we precisely define the main problem or challenge that needs to be solved to set the focus for the next steps.

Step 3 - Reflect & Generate Ideas: In this phase we generate creative ideas for solutions (also with the use of generative AI), which are based on the understanding of the target group and the problem. This allows us to explore different approaches to tackling the problem.

Step 4 - Prototyping & making models tangible: We translate the ideas into simple, tangible prototypes to illustrate the concepts for you. This allows us to gain initial experience of the possible solutions.

Step 5 - Testing & iteration: The prototypes are checked using tests and feedback from your target group. Based on these findings, we adapt the solutions, improve them and test again to gradually reach an optimal result.

Our WIRZ framework integrates many elements of the Design Thinking method described above:

  • Problem design: understanding, observing and defining the status quo
  • Solution design: Finding ideas, developing and testing prototypes
  • Delivery design: Implement, scale, turn into reality
